PAWTUCKET — A city man was charged for his alleged role in a shooting on Vale Street early Sunday morning, in which two vehicles were struck by gunfire, Pawtucket Police said.
Police around 4:15 on Sunday morning responded to the area of 30 Vale St. after receiving a 911 call for shots fired, police said. Officers on scene located several shell casings in the road and two parked vehicles that had been struck by bullets. There were no reported injuries, police said.
Patrol officers located surveillance video and identified the suspect in Sunday morning’s shooting as Jonathan J. Goncalves, 24, of 58 Centre St., Apt. 1 in Pawtucket. A warrant was subsequently issued for Goncalves’ arrest, police said.
Around 12:45 p.m. Monday, Goncalves was observed exiting his residence and entering into a vehicle, police said. He was stopped by patrol officers and taken into custody. Goncalves was interviewed by detectives and admitted that he had fired the shots due to an earlier altercation with several men on Vale Street, police said.
