REHOBOTH- Helen Papas of Rehoboth, Massachusetts and formerly of Pawtucket passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Papas.
Mrs. Papas was born in Pawtucket the daughter of the late Evangelos Spanos and Evangelia (Thanopoulos) Spanos. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Papas was a dedicated member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Pawtucket. She was a Sunday school teacher there, a lifetime member of the choir, a past president of the Assumption Ladies Philoptochos Society, and past president of the Daughters of Penelope.
Mrs. Papas is survived by her daughter, Evanne M. Mirabile and her husband Stephen of Rehoboth, Ma, with whom she made her home. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Papas was the sister of the late Katina Christodulou.
There will be a funeral service for Mrs. Papas on Tuesday, May 6, at 10:00 am in the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Her burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pawtucket. The calling hours for Mrs. Papas will be Monday from 4-7 pm in the church. For online condolences please visit
