Maria Augusta Delgado
CUMBERLAND- Maria Augusta Delgado, 99, of Pollett Street, passed away Thursday April 3, 2014 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Alfredo Delgado.
Born June 3, 1914 in Baraçal, Guarda, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Feliz (Cardoso) DeJesus.
She settled in Pawtucket with her husband and daughter in 1947, and moved to Cumberland in 1963. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
Mrs. Delgado was co-owner with her husband of Delgado's Liquor Store in Providence.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and VóVó to her grandsons and great-granddaughters. She loved spending time and the holidays with her family. Mrs. Delgado was an avid reader, an excellent cook and also enjoyed gardening. She will be forever missed.
She leaves her daughter, Maria D. Wilk and her husband Walter of Lincoln; two grandsons: Walter Wilk Jr. and wife Allison of Mansfield, MA and Keith Wilk and wife Ronda of Lincoln; four great-granddaughters: Caroline, Elizabeth, Abigail, and Christina. She was the sister of the late Maria Mascimina Coelho and Maria Miquelina Santos.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday at 10 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 PM.
