NORTH PROVIDENCE – An unidentified 28-year-old man was struck by a truck and killed on Route 146 South Wednesday after an incident near the Mineral Spring Avenue on-ramp that slowed travel on the road for more than hour.
State Police confirmed that the pedestrian, who had apparently parked a car along the side of the highway and stepped into the travel lane before being hit by an 18-wheel tractor trailer, was transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital where he later died of traumatic injuries, according to State Police Capt. Robert S. Wall, District A commander.
