Mary R. Tougas
WEST HAVEN, CT - Mary R. Tougas, 100, of West Haven and formerly of Cumberland passed away Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Marie Mancini and her husband Edward where she had resided for the past 5 years. She had also previously resided in Cumberland for 18 years and Pawtucket for 50 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert A. Tougas.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Vicenzo and Mary E. (McElroy) Robbio.
Mrs. Tougas was manager of the former Sackettes Card Shop, Providence for over 30 years until her retirement at the age of 77. In 2006 she received the President's, "Call to Service Award" from the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.
Besides her daughter Marie Mancini she also leaves daughter Ann Fenner of Lincoln; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Robert Tougas.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday morning with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, 1301 Mendon Rd. Rt3. 122, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
