PAWTUCKET — First came concerns about trailer-like taco stands. Now, city officials are raising questions about some of the other vendors that have been allowed to sell wares under a city-issued peddler’s license.
Two Providence-based vendors, Mustafa Lynch and Roger Fudge, recently requested the renewal of their peddler’s license allowing them to sell “pictures, toys, tapestry, rugs, and general merchandise.” Under “location,” they both wrote, “All of Pawtucket.”
Both vendors had been licensed previously, reportedly for a number of years. Yet, the description of the items being peddled caught the attention of City Councilor John Barry at a recent meeting of the Board of License Commissioners. “Pictures of what?” he inquired with some amusement during last month’s meeting, and other councilors agreed they weren’t that comfortable with the types of merchandise being sold.
