PAWTUCKET — Three real estate developers have been given the go-ahead from city officials to submit formal plans to develop the failed hotel property at 45 Division St.
According to Planning Director Barney Heath, members of the city’s Planning and Redevelopment Department have reviewed the qualifications of three firms that have indicated an interest in developing the site. These include Apex Development Co. of Pawtucket, the Tai-O Group from Central Falls and the Peregrine Group of East Providence. Heath recommended to the City Council last week that the three contenders be allowed to advance to the next step of submitting requests for proposals (RFPs) for the city-owned site.
The 10.7-acre site that sits atop the banks of the Seekonk River is considered by city officials to be a cornerstone development of the riverfront. Particularly since the completion of the new Pawtucket River Bridge and a planned park located across the street from the site, the area is thought to be ideally suited for residential and mixed use development.
