PAWTUCKET – It's a sweet tradition that dates back to the 1930s: Girl Scout Cookies. Girl Scouts of the USA has declared Feb. 7-8 “National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend.” Girl Scouts nationwide are asking their communities to celebrate by purchasing cookies to help girls reach their goals.
National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend comes at the height of cookie season for the Girl Scouts of Rhode Island as well as southeastern Massachusetts and Pawcatuck, Conn. The girls have been taking orders since December and delivering them to customers since mid-January. Now, they are moving on to the phase of selling cookies at booths located outside various retail locations around the area through the end of March.
