PAWTUCKET — Longtime City Clerk Richard J. Goldstein has earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk, an upgrade from Certified Municipal Clerk, by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Inc.
According to a press release, the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Inc. grants the MMC designation only to those municipal clerks who both complete demanding education requirements and have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state.
The IIMC, founded in 1947, has 10,300 members throughout the United States, Canada, and 15 other countries. The mission of the global non-profit corporation is to enhance the education opportunities and professional development of its membership.
“In light of the speed and drastic nature of change these days, lifelong learning is not only desirable, it is necessary for all in local government to keep pace with growing demands and changing needs of the citizens we serve,” wrote Sharon Cassler, MMC, International Institute president. “Your city can take immense pride in Richard's educational accomplishments and achievement of this milestone.”

Throughout his career, Goldstein has attended the New England Municipal Clerks Institute and Academy for seminars and instruction on a number of topics, from management and budgeting to dealing with different types of employees.
Goldstein, who has lived in Pawtucket since he was six years-old, has served on numerous boards and committees during his almost 23 years of working with the city. His involvement has included the Armory Arts District Study Group, the Pawtucket Hall of Fame Committee, the Pawtucket Fireworks Committee, the Pawtucket 20/20 Committee, the Pawtucket Cancer Control Task Force, and the Schools Superintendent Search Committee.
