PAWTUCKET – Police are investigating a second death in as many days after an unidentified man's body was found in the woods off Blackstone Avenue Monday afternoon.
Pawtucket Police Capt. John Seebeck said the department was investigating the discovery of “a dead man in the woods off Blackstone Avenue near Darrow Street.” The body was found at about 3:31 p.m. and police summoned to the scene, according to Seebeck. Capt. Seebeck declined to provide further details on the case while the investigation continued. “The Medical Examiners Office has the body and we will know more when an examination is completed,” he said.
The body was reported to have been found in woods behind St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church by someone walking through the area. Seebeck declined to comment on what police found at the location. “I’m not going to get into specifics,” Capt. Seebeck said. The Department’s spokesman, Major Arthur Martins, was expected to have additional information on the discovery today, according to Seeback.
The discovery of the body comes as the department investigates the murder of Jeffrey LeBrun, 41, in a shooting at his home early Sunday morning. LeBrun was reported to have been shot twice during the incident and was found dead inside his home at 112 Dawson St. after police were called there at 1.45 a.m. Sunday.
