Allyn G. Jackson
CUMBERLAND - Allyn "Jigger" G. Jackson, 94, of Rosemont Avenue, passed away Tuesday at the Home and Hospice Care of RI, Providence. He was the husband of Edith M. (Angell) Jackson.
Born in Ashton, he was the son of the late Frederick and Sarah (Greene) Jackson. He was a life-long resident of Cumberland.
He was a United States Army Air Corps, World War II Veteran, attaining a rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded many citations and commendations including Distiguished Flying Cross, European African Middle Eastern Medal, 15th AF44 Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. He flew 51 combat missions during his tour of duty.
Mr. Jackson was the owner and operator of Jackson Oil Company, and Scott's Meat Pies for many years until retirement.
Besides his beloved wife, he leaves two sons, John E. Jackson and his wife Annette of Cumberland and Jeff Jackson and his wife Melissa of Connecticut; two daughters, Ruth Crawley and her husband Edward of Lincoln and Abbey Ouzts and her husband James of South Carolina; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norwin Jackson and Wallace Jackson.
A celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of J. J. Duffy Funeral Home.
