PAWTUCKET — The following schedule has been set for the Inauguration Day events and ceremonies to be held on Monday, Jan. 7, during which the newly-elected office holders for mayor, city council and school committee will be sworn into office.
At 4 p.m., an Inaugural Liturgy open to the public will be celebrated at St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Church, 358 Newport Ave., officiated by Fr. Joseph Paquette, pastor.
At 6, inauguration ceremonies will be held in Jenks Junior High School gymnasium for Mayor Donald R. Grebien and the members-elect of the city council and school committee where they will be sworn to their oaths of office.
The ceremonies will be immediately followed by a serving of coffee, pastry and other light refreshments in the gymnasium at Jenks Junior High School/Jacqueline M. Walsh School for the Performing and Visual Arts, 350 Division St.
Those attending are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item which will be donated to benefit the needy through the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen and St. Teresa Church.
In keeping with the publicly open nature of the inaugural events, no formal invitations will be separately mailed; the public is invited to all events.
