PAWTUCKET — All was merry and bright at the Grupo Amigos De Terceira on Saturday night as the community came together for The Times' “Jingle Mingle” dinner dance.
Decorated in its Christmas finery, the Community Center at 55 Memorial Dr. provided an elegantly festive backdrop for the Jingle Mingle, held to benefit The Times' “Merry Christmas Fund.” Grupo Amigos De Terceira, Inc. joined The Times in hosting the event, which raised $2,700 for the fund.
Now in its 30th year, the Merry Christmas Fund directly benefits the Salvation Army of Pawtucket, which, in turn, helps local families enjoy a happier holiday. The “Jingle Mingle” was designed to celebrate the fun and beauty of the season while also fostering a spirit of generosity for those less fortunate from Pawtucket and surrounding communities.
Mayor Donald Grebien and his wife, Laureen, and Fr. Joseph Paquette, pastor of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Church, were among the attendees, along with Captains Leonardo and Persida Sanclemente, of the Pawtucket Salvation Army Corps. Some 60 employees from Genesis Pawtucket Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center used the Jingle Mingle as their holiday office party.
Management and staff from The Times, and its sister newspapers, The Call and the 'Burbs, also participated in the evening of dining and dancing. Kathy Needham, controller for The Times, The Call, and 'Burbs, served as chairwoman of the event.
