John L. Stapleton
PAWTUCKET - Stapleton, John L., 85, passed peacefully Monday at the Pawtucket Nursing Home. Born in Providence, a son of the late John and Abbie (Duffy) Stapleton and was married to Lorraine "Rusty" (Dussault) Stapleton for 61 years.
John was a window display artist for several major stores in Providence and vicinity for over 40 years. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in WWII. His life was based on the gospel verse "what so ever you do for the least of my people, that you do unto me". He lived it in numerous ways in what he did for people of all walks of life throughout his life.
Besides his wife he leaves 6 children; Mrs. (John) Kathy Nikrewicz of Providence, Mrs. (Charles) Suzanne Latimer of Mt. Holly, NJ, Michael Stapleton of Pawtucket, Mr. John (Colleen) Stapleton, of Foster, Mrs. (Bryan) Laurie Stapleton of West Palm Beach, FL, Mrs. (Joseph) Mary-Beth Lamoureux of Cumberland, a sister Abbie Robshaw of Rumford, 2 brothers; Joseph Stapleton of Sacramento, CA and Frank Stapleton of Warwick, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00am in St Teresa Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, with military honors to follow at the church. Burial will be private in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association of RI, P.O. Box 41659, Providence. RI 02904.
