PAWTUCKET — A city man has been arrested on 12 counts of second-degree child molestation based on a complaint from a 7-year-old and two other individuals, now adults, who came forward to say he had abused them in the same manner, police said.
The suspect, Samuel Cooper, 41, of Boyce Avenue, was arrested on Wednesday after turning himself in to police. A warrant had been issued for his arrest following an investigation.
According to Major Arthur Martins, the complaint was made on Nov. 11 by a family member of the victim, who said several incidents of inappropriate touching by Cooper involving the child had allegedly occurred in late September.
During the investigation, two other individuals, now adults, came forward to say that Cooper had molested them as well when they were roughly 7 to 10 years old, Martins said. All three victims are related to Cooper, he added.
Cooper was arraigned on Wednesday in District Court in Providence, where bail was set at $10,000 with surety.
