John F. Fanning
CUMBERLAND - John F. Fanning, 64, of Eddy Street, passed away Thursday in the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Francis J. and Madeline A. (Hunt) Fanning. He was a resident of Cumberland, and Craftsbury, VT.
John was a retired steamfitter for over 40 years, working out of Local 51, previously Local 476 of Rhode Island. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
He was a member of the Cumberland Beagle Club.
He leaves two sons John D. Fanning of Stockbridge, GA and Peter F. Fanning of Coventry, his siblings, Sister Marilyn Fanning RSM of Pawtucket, Frank Fanning, and his wife Laureen of Swansea; three grandchildren, Peter, Noah, and Elsie Fanning, and several nieces and nephews. He is also the brother in law of Douglass Lasko and his wife Valerie of Cumberland. He also leaves behind many hunting and fishing buddies. John was also the brother of the late Laurel Lasko.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invitied. Visiting Hours will be held Tuesday from 4 PM to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Laurel Lasko Scholarship Fund, Cumb. Municipal Employee Credit Union, 2352 Mendon Road, Cumberland, RI 02864.
