PAWTUCKET --- Mount Hope, thanks to a pair of second-period goals by Nick Salzano, leapfrogged over Tolman and into second place in the Division III standings on Friday night by posting a 4-2 victory at Lynch Arena.
The Tigers, who only dressed 11 players, two of them goaltenders, fell to 5-3. The Huskies are 6-1 and trail the unbeaten Johnston/North Providence co-op team in the standings.
Jared Pedro and Kevin Tracey scored goals for the Tigers, both assisted by Kody Casavant. The Tigers were tied at 1-1 with the Huskies at the end of a period of play, but trailed 3-2 after two periods.
The Tigers outshot the Huskies, 37-23, but sophomore goalie Matt Wilson turned away 35 shots for the winners.
Cumberland stays unbeaten at 7-0
BURRILLVILLE --- Undefeated faced winless on Friday night and the result was obvious as Cumberland rolled to a 5-1 triumph over Ponaganset in their Division II-North affair at Levy Arena.
Mike Kinch scored a pair of goals and Andrew Dulac had a goal and an assist for the Clippers, who rolled to a 3-0 lead after two periods and improved their record to 7-0.
Matt Rzemien and Andrew Pluta added the other goals, Ryan Huber set up a pair of goals, and goaltender Pat Noke ended up with 19 saves.
East Providence nips West Warwick
PAWTUCKET --- Paul Lukas scored twice and Ryan Barry and Matt Hall each had a pair of assists for East Providence on Friday night in the Townies’ 3-2 victory over West Warwick at Lynch Arena.
Lukas’s second goal, with 50 seconds to play in the second period, gave the Townies a 3-1 lead and helped them improve to 5-2 in Division III action.
Troy Derrick also scored for the Townies, who outshot the Wizards by a 31-22 margin.
Barrington goalie silences Lincoln
WOONSOCKET --- Barrington goalie Chris Calitri had a game for the ages on Friday night, as he stopped 48 shots in his team’s 6-0 win over Lincoln on Friday night at Adelard Arena.
The Eagles, who scored the only goal they needed just 11 seconds into play, had a 3-0 lead after a period of play and took 50 shots in the game.
The Lions and Eagles are both 2-3 in Division I action.
