LINCOLN – The body of an adult male who had been shot in the head multiple times was found in the trunk of a car parked at Lincoln Woods Wednesday morning, the state police said.
Col. Steven G. O'Donnell, superintendent of the state police, said the victim's hands and feet were also bound. He called the killing “an execution.”
O'Donnell told reporters the car was found off the shoulder near the Twin River Road entrance to the park.
A park caretaker first noticed the vehicle about 6 a.m. because the car was parked illegally, said O'Donnell. The caretaker left a note on the vehicle advising the driver to move it, then called the police when he noticed the vehicle still there about four hours later. After noticing blood on the vehicle, police forced the trunk open and made the grisly discovery.
The identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin, O'Donnell said. Police continue to investigate the slaying.Times.
