PROVIDENCE — The statewide Grand Jury reported the indictments of two Pawtucket residents Friday.
Anthony Berard, 27, was charged with one count of first degree sexual assault and one count of possession of cocaine. It is alleged that on or about Jan. 30, 2011, Berard sexually assaulted a woman, with that assault being in the first degree. The alleged sexual assault took place in Warwick. It is further alleged that on or about March 11, 2011, Berard possessed cocaine, an incident alleged to have taken place in Pawtucket.
Warwick police conducted the investigation. Berard is scheduled to be arraigned in Kent County Superior Court on Aug. 5.
He was arrested on March 4, 2011 and initially held without bail pending a bail hearing. At a March 17, 2011 bail hearing, bail was set at $35,000 with surety and a no contact order with the victim was issued. Bail was posted.
In an unrelated indictment, Timothy Greene, 39, was charged with one count of first degree sexual assault, domestic; assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic; and two counts of simple assault, domestic.
It is alleged that on or about May 2, 2011, Greene sexually assaulted a woman with whom he had a substantial dating relationship, with that assault being in the first degree. It is also alleged that Greene assaulted the same woman with a dangerous weapon, with the weapon being his feet. He also allegedly assaulted and battered the woman.
The alleged incident took place in Pawtucket.
Pawtucket police conducted the investigation. Greene was arrested on May 2, 2011 and is currently being held without bail. He will be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Aug. 10.
