PAWTUCKET — The 1st Annual Pawtucket Cherry Tree Carnival is being held this weekend (through Sunday) at the R.I. Cherry Blossom Festival, on Roosevelt Avenue.
The weekend-long festival features a full carnival with rides, games, food and entertainment, along with the Cherry Blossom Running Event, which kicks off at 7 a.m. today. Run the Blackstone Valley Half Marathon and witness the beautiful sights of the Blackstone Valley. If the half marathon is too far for you - then consider running in the Kyle Coutu 5K. Bring the kids to run in the Cherry Blossom 1K. All races start and finish in Downtown Pawtucket.
While you’re there, participate in the Blackstone River Storage America Duck Race, check out the Pink Heals Pink Fire Truck & Police Car, try wall climbing or watch the Butterfly Parade.
Other events include the Chinese Lion Dancers, Vegetable Plant Give-Away, the Cherry Blossom Bicycle Tour, Chocolate Demonstrations by the Confectioners Mill Preservation Society, the Latin America Music Festival and much more. Admission is free, so come and enjoy.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation and the Cherry Blossom Festival.
