Beverly A. Bloomer
PAWTUCKET - Beverly A. (Clarke) Bloomer, 72, of Riley Street, died Friday, May 23 at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. She was the beloved wife of thirty years to Craig W. Bloomer.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Robert B. Clarke and Doris (Collette) Velletri, and step-daughter of Fred Velletri of Johnston, she had been a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Bloomer was the Aquatics Director at the Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland-Lincoln for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2007. Prior to that, she was a Swim and Gymnastics Coach, and a Program Coordinator at the Pawtucket YMCA from 1960 to 1980. She also ran the MacColl Field YMCA Summer Camp for many years until 1980. Her greatest joy was teaching kids how to swim.
She was a graduate of Tolman High School, Class of 1960, and had attended Dean Jr. College. In 1960, she was honored by the Pawtucket YMCA as their Youth of the Year.
She was an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Cumberland, where she taught Sunday School for many years, and served as a Deacon.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Brenda Tillier, and her husband Joseph Reynolds of Johnston and Beth Bloomer of Pawtucket; one son, Paul Tillier of Johnston; two brothers, Robert B. Clarke, Jr. of Palm Harbor, FL and Vance Velletri of Lakeville, MA; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Judith Clarke.
A Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will be celebrated, Saturday, May 31 at 11:00 a.m. in Calvin Presbyterian Church, 126 Angell Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call prior to the service from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be private.
