CUMBERLAND - Walter "Chick" Sullivan, 78, formerly of Hopkins Terrace, passed away February 28, 2011 in the Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, FL. He was the husband of Geraldine A. (Pate) Sullivan and the late Elizabeth A. Carr.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Raymond and Gladys (Cameron) Sullivan. He resided in Port Charlotte, FL for the past 8 years, previously residing in Cumberland.
Mr. Sullivan was a United States Army Veteran.
He was a past Grand Knight of the St. Thomas Council, Knights of Columbus; former member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and the American Legion Post 14.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Patrick W. Sullivan of Richmond, Sean M. Sullivan, and his wife Donna, and Kevin J. Sullivan and his wife Laurie, both of Cumberland; two daughters Mary-Beth Duffy and Maura-Jane George, all of Cumberland; one sister, Sister Mary Gladys (Barbara) Sullivan RSM of Cumberland; ten grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the sister of the late Edith Gately, Raymond Sullivan, Geneva Meaney, Russell Sullivan, Shirley Gretchner, Lois Bruzzi, and William Sullivan.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in the St. Patrick Church, Broad Street, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Friday. 4-8 PM.
