PAWTUCKET- Walter Hoskins, 81, of Altoona, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth M. (Carver) Hoskins.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Walter R. and Emma (Foxall) Hoskins.
Walter resided in Pawtucket most of his life until moving to Jonesborough, Tennessee in 1981, he resided in Florida since 1992. Walter was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran. He was employed by Aerojet General, Jonesborough, TN until retiring in 1992, and was previously employed by the Washburn Wire Company, East Providence for thirty years. Walter was a member of the Freemasons.
He leaves three sons, John S. Hoskins and his wife, Nancy of Cumberland, RI, Richard A. Hoskins and his wife, Robin of Carolina, RI and David C. Hoskins and his partner, Norman Arter of Holden, MA; a daughter, Jane E. Templin of Leesburg, FL; two grandchildren, Meredith Hoskins of Cumberland and Michael Hoskins of Burlington, VT and two sisters, Ruth Hockenson and Dorothy Skelton both in Washington State. He was the brother of the late Emily Gardner, Harry Hoskins, Mary Gaines and Jack Hoskins, Sr.
A Celebration of Walter's Life will begin Thursday at 4 p.m. followed by Services at 6:30 p.m. at the WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Walter will be interred with his beloved wife at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
