Volunteers spruce up Pawtucket elementary school

August 20, 2014

PAWTUCKET – Students and faculty at Elizabeth Baldwin Elementary School live by “the three Rs”, a credo that teaches them to always be mindful of being respectful, responsible, and ready to learn. Through charitable endeavors from Hasbro and the work of its volunteers and school staff, those entering the building for the first day of school on Tuesday will more than ever understand the significance behind those letters. The toy company sent nearly 50 members from its pre-kindergarten team to the elementary school Wednesday to help beautify the facility in a myriad of ways, from painting outlines for games on the blacktop playground to painting a mural of the school's mascot — an eagle — in the gymnasium.
Accompanying the team from Hasbro were 25 teachers from the elementary school.
Principal Joan DiOrio said the project was “the most organized” she had seen in some time.
“I can't believe how much they're getting done,” DiOrio said early Wednesday morning, noting that everyone from faculty to students to parents were “truly excited” to see the finished product.
