Virginia R. Loynds
CUMBERLAND - Virginia R. (Moor) Loynds, 90, formerly of Rigdewood Rd. passed away Tuesday in The Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Loynds for 55 years.
Born in Boston, MA she was the daughter of the late Earl M. and Ruth C. (McFaden) Moor. She had resided in Cumberland over 50 years previously residing in Skowhegan, ME and Brookline, MA.
Ginny as many called her was a registered nurse having graduated in 1946 from the former Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Memorial Hospital for 9 years and later worked for the Cumberland School Department retiring in 1987. She received her Baccalaureate Degree in Biology from Rhode Island College in 1977.
Mrs. Loynds was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Local and National Chapters, the Blackstone Valley Shelter, Lake Wesserunsett Association, ME and RI Retired Teachers Association and many other artistic and civic causes.
She leaves four grandchildren, William G. Loynds III of Canaan, NH, Daniel J. Loynds and Isis G. Loynds both of Cumberland and Elissa K. Tracey of Randolph, ME. She also leaves many great grandchildren and friends who were more like family. She was the mother of the late William G. Loynds II and Lesley M. Burke.
A celebration of her life and funeral service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd., Rte. 122, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
