RUMFORD - Vincent P. McKinnon, died peacefully at home in Rumford on Sunday, June 2, 2013. He was the beloved friend and companion of Dora Burch. He was the husband of the late Louise (Melucci) McKinnon. Mr. McKinnon was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Kiley) McKinnon.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific and Japan Arena. He was a graduate of Providence College and received a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University. In 1954 he received an accounting certification from Hubbard Business School. He was a deputy sheriff for the Rhode Island Supreme Court for over 20 years. He was formerly an enrollment representative for Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Life Insurance representative for Boston Mutual.
Mr. McKinnon is survived by a sister Maureen Deubel of Seekonk. He was the brother of the late Daniel McKinnon, Charles McKinnon, William McKinnon and John McKinnon. He was also the brother of the late Mary Kuderka, Margaret Doherty, Helen Harwood, Elaine McCaughey, Veronica Cadden, Patricia Fournier and Jane Magill. He also leaves behind five step-children, Paul Mobrice of Cumberland, Diana Dean of Pawtucket, Scott Burch of Lincoln, Crystal Houle of Lincoln, Tanya Acquisto of Cumberland, 15 step grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Vincent was a good and avid reader and gardener. It wasn't spring in the neighborhood until Vinnie started his garden.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. McKinnon in St. Margaret's Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford on Thursday, June 6 at 11:00 am. His calling hours will be Thursday morning from 9:00 am until 10:30 am in the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery.
