By DONNA KENNY KIRWAN PAWTUCKET — Police are investigating the attempted robbery of a delivery driver from Olly’s Pizza that occurred on Prospect Street late Friday night.
The victim told police that he had received an order for a pizza to an apartment at 307 Prospect St. that had been called in from a pay phone at around 11:15 p.m. When he arrived at the location, he said he knocked on the door of 307 Prospect St., but was told by the tenant there that no pizza had been ordered. The tenant suggested that the order could have been made by the occupants of a rear apartment. At the same time, the delivery driver told police he had observed a male, who turned out to be the robbery suspect, talking on cell phone while walking nearby. The driver said he was heading down the driveway toward the rear apartment when he noticed the suspect following him. The suspect told the driver that the pizza was for him. However, the driver said that when he turned around, the suspect had his sleeve covering his hand and pointed it at him as if he was concealing a pistol. The suspect then demanded all of the driver’s money. The delivery driver told police that said he refused to give the suspect anything and instead dialed 911 on his cell phone. This prompted the suspect to flee west on Linwood Avenue and then north on School Street. The suspect was described as a heavy set black male wearing a dark football jersey and a do-rag.
