By VINAYA SAKSENA PAWTUCKET — A truck carrying acoustical tile led spilled its cargo along Interstate 95 Wednesday morning following an accident. But state police said that the incident did not cause any injuries or major traffic problems.
According to State Police Lt. Paul Olszewski, troopers were dispatched to the scene of the accident at approximately 8:13 a.m. Wednesday. There, they found that a truck carrying acoustical tile had lost control and spilled some of the tile along the southbound side of the highway, at the S-Curves not far from Fountain Street. Olszewski said the truck, owned by K&K Acoustical Ceilings of Tewksbury, Mass., had been traveling in the “second right lane” on the southbound side of the highway when it lost control, crossing the right lane and striking a concrete Jersey barrier. The sudden directional shift apparently caused the truck’s cargo to shift, with some of it spilling along the edge of the road, Olszewski said. He added that the vehicle appeared to have continued traveling for approximately 400 feet after the impact before coming to a stop on its own. The driver, identified as 46-year-old David Tannatt of Woburn, Mass., did not suffer any major injuries, Olszewski said. No citations were issued as a result of the accident.
