SRA, Cumberland netmen primed for playoffs E-mail

PAWTUCKET -- St. Raphael Academy wrapped up a 12-1 regular season campaign with a 7-0 victory over Tolman on Friday afternoon.
The Saints have earned a first-round bye in the state team tournament that begins on Tuesday. They advance to Friday’s semifinals as the second-seeded team in the field behind unbeaten Portsmouth, which handed SRA its only loss of the season.
The Division III championship final will be played on Sunday, May 24, at Slater Park.

Clippers win again
CUMBERLAND -- Cumberland High improved to 15-0 in Division II action with a 7-0 victory over Scituate on Friday.
The Clippers close out their regular season on Monday at Smithfield, then get ready for the state team tournament. They earned a first-round bye and will begin competition in the semifinals next Saturday. The Division II championship finals are slated for Monday, May 23, at Slater Park, according to Cumberland coach John Jasionowski.

Grafton jolts BMR
BLACKSTONE -- Blackstone Milleville Regional suffered a 4-1 loss to Grafton on Friday. Tyler Plante picked up the only win for the home team, taking a three-set victory in No. 2 singles.
