NORTH PROVIDENCE – Shea High used its defense to great advantage on Wednesday night en route to a 74-59 victory over North Providence. “Our defense did a very good job of locating their shooters,” Shea coach Greg Barker admitted after the game. “Defense was the story of the game tonight for us.” Guard Malcom Moniz supplied his own sidebar, scoring 28 points and dishing out 6 assists for the Raiders, who are now 10-2 in Division II-North, two games off the pace set by unbeaten Classical. O.J. Whitaker added 12 points and 12 rebounds for Shea. Kelvin Walker played a complementary role and finished with 13 points. Tolman clinches playoff berth WARWICK – Tolman High took no prisoners on Wednesday night while romping to an 87-37 victory over winless Warwick Veterans that clinched a playoff berth for the Tigers. The Tigers improved to 8-5 in Division II-North with the win, which featured a well-balanced offense and stifling defense. Head coach Mike Kayata emptied his bench after Tolman jumped out to a 48-15 halftime lead. Allens Etienne and Rashaam Sam scored 13 points apiece to lead Tolman, which visits Shea on Friday night. Etiennes added 13 rebounds while point guard Rodney Bustillo dished out 6 assists. Stefan Patino added four steals. The Tigers are pushing hard for third place as the regular season heads into its final two weeks of action.
