King's 36 paces SRA to win E-mail
Wednesday, 11 February 2009
PAWTUCKET --- Avery King produced one of the best performances of his high school career on Tuesday night, but that effort alone wasn’t enough to prevent the Saints from dropping an 81-76 verdict to visiting Cranston East High.
King torched the twines for a game-high 36 points, was 7-for-11 from three-point land, dished out seven assists, and did not commit a single turnover.
Elray Symonds (14 points), Nick Gaj (nine), and Ray Johnston (eight) also shined offensively for the Saints, who fell to 6-7 in the division (9-9 overall) and have dropped seven of their last 10 games.

Now 8-11 overall and 7-8 in the South Coast Conference, the Warriors must win their last three regular-season games in order to qualify for the Division III state tournament.
Matt Quinn also had a double-double for the Warriors with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Andrew Killian also had 12 points, and along with Silva, ripped down eight rebounds.
The Lakers led throughout the game, holding an 18-8 lead after a quarter of play, a 36-22 cushion at the break, and a 54-47 command at the end of three quarters.

Saturday night I attended the semi-final girls basketball
game vs Townies Girls team as an aunt of one of the EP players. It was an exciting
all-around game for both teams, and I give credit to my niece and the Townie girls
too for a great season.  <br />I just have to say though, that I was
particularly impressed with the talent, poise and unflappable playing style of this
Tolman girls team! It can only speak well of a great coaching staff, and their love
and encouragement of these talented girls. After the game, the low-key humilty that
the Tolman girls displayed, showed real sportsmanship and class. I have a feeling
that this season is the "Year of the Tiger" and hope that they go straight on to
victory in the championship. No matter what the outcome though, they've gained a new
loyal fan in me, and I look forward to following the next seasons with real
interest. This is the way that high school sports should be played! You go Tolman
girls! - Regina Orio
