PAWTUCKET – For most of the first half and at the tail end of the game, Tolman gave unbeaten Classical quite a battle in their Division II contest on Friday night before dropping a 55-49 verdict. But the Purple took care of what happened in between enabling them to walk off the Donaldson Gymnasium with a 55-49 victory. The Tigers trailed Classical by just six with 1:30 left in the first half before the Purple rattled off six unanswered points to enter halftime with a 30-19 advantage. Down by 13 with five minutes remaining in the tilt, Tolman chopped the deficit to just four (52-48) with a minute to go before Classical settled the verdict at the free throw line. Allens Etienne (10 points, 11 rebounds), Levan Waite (15 points), Rodney Bastillo (five assists, eight points) and Chris DosSantos (16 points) were the top players for the Tigers, who are now 6-5 in D-II North. Central Falls knocks off Moses Brown again PROVIDENCE – In a battle for first place in Division III, Central Falls completed a season sweep of defending champ Moses Brown, 72-58, on Friday. The Warriors improve to 10-1 in league play while the Quakers drop to 10-2. CF raced out to a 15-point lead at halftime before costing home to a 14-point win. Antonio Mena had a game-high 24 points for CF and George Carle added 23. Saints grab crucial road victory CRANSTON – In a game that St. Raphael Academy needed, SRA obtained a 53-39 win over Cranston West on Friday. The victory allows the Saints to get to .500 in Division I play (6-6). Avery King led SRA with 15 points and seven assists while Ray Johnston collected his second straight double-double (13 points, 15 rebounds). Playing in just his third varsity game, freshman Cesar Mejia scored 13 points while senior Nick Gaj added 10. *** ST. Seekonk outlasts Bourne BOURNE – Clutch performances from Sean Heaney and Andrew Killian down the stretch allowed Seekonk to escape Bourne with a 65-63 victory. Killian drilled two clutch free throws that ended up being the difference while Heaney nailed a huge 3-pointer. The Warriors (8-9, 7-6 SCC) jumped out to an 11-point lead in the first half before settling on a 40-33 cushion at halftime. Lucas Thompson achieved double-double status with 10 points and 16 rebounds as did Killian (12 points, 11 rebounds).
