PAWTUCKET – A tough night at the free throw line proved to be St. Raphael’s undoing in a 67-58 loss to La Salle Academy on Friday night. The Saints drop to 4-4 in Division I-North. SRA managed to shoot just 6-of-17 from the charity stripe. Avery King led all scorers with seven 3-pointers and 36 points. Woonsocket halts Hope, 75-55 WOONSOCKET – Woonsocket High remains perfect after rolling past Hope High, 75-55, on Friday. The Villa Novans improve to 11-0 overall, 8-0 in Division I-North. Tron Griffith led the Novans with 17 points, collecting five rebounds. Antjuan Jones finished with 15 points and eight steals while Lee Vazquez amassed seven points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Northmen bounce back with win JOHNSTON – After a tough loss on Thursday to Central Falls, North Smithfield bounced back with a 63-54 win over Johnston on Friday. The Northmen enter the midway portion of the Division II schedule in fine position at 7-2. Matt Chiccarelli topped North Smithfield with 24 points and 15 rebounds. His follow up slam dunk with two minutes remaining, coming off a Steve Vario miss, helped put the Northmen out of danger. Vario scored 15 points, nailing three 3-pointers. Tolman grabs important road win SCITUATE – Some clutch free throw shooting in the game’s final minute allowed Tolman to escape Scituate with a 54-51 win Friday. The Tigers are now 5-2 in Division II-North, good for second place (Tolman owns tiebreakers over Scituate and Shea). Up 50-49 with a minute remaining, Tolman was able to keep Scituate at bay by sinking 5-of-6 shots at line. The Spartans found themselves trailing by three with 10 seconds remaining, but game-tying attempts from Brendan Cabral (19 points) and Zach Caron (10 points) were off target. Caron’s miss came off an offensive rebound as time expired. Senior Allens Etienne scored a team-best 16 points for Tolman, pulling down nine rebounds. Chris DosSantos pumped in 10 points while contributing four assists and four steals. Uxbridge ends losing streak UXBRIDGE - The Uxbridge Spartans accomplished two things Friday in a convincing 73-52 win over the Oxford Pirates at the Veterans Memorial. The Spartans snapped their eight-game losing steak while picking up league victory No. 1. Dan Tessier (22 points) led a balanced attack with help from junior Jason Silbor (11 points), junior Kyle Tatum (11 points) and senior Jake Storey ( 10 points) . Pangborn brothers pace MSC to victory PROVIDENCE - The brother-tandem of Ryan and Josh Pangborn combined for 30 points as Mount St. Charles defeated Juanita Sanchez, 68-64, in a Division III contest Friday night. The Mounties, who were on their home court for the first time in six games, had an impressive 14 assists on their 23 field goals in the tilt. Colin Russell and Nick Bowen each had five. Bowen was also the game’s high scorer with 21 points. Hopkinton belts Bellingham BELLINGHAM - Bellingham dropped its 12 decision of the season witth a 72-57 loss to Hopkinton on Friday. Ryan Ingersoll scored 18 points and Chris Pognacci had 17 points and 17 rebounds for the Blackhawks, now 1-12 in Division III.
