PAWTUCKET — A 46-year-old city man who apparently did not feel like going to work Monday morning is facing felony assault charges after allegedly pointing a bow and arrow at his boss and two co-workers.

The boss, who police declined to identify, told police that he drove to the home of his employee, Alan R. Horan, at around 7:30 a.m. to pick Horan up and take him to work. He said that when he got to Horan’s house at 890 Roosevelt Ave., he knocked on the side basement window to get his attention. He said he observed Horan move around near his bed and saw him raise a bow and arrow.
The boss said he went back to his truck and sat waiting, along with two other employees, for Horan to get ready and come with them to a job site. However, the boss told police that a few minutes later, Horan came out of the rear of the house holding a compound bow and arrow.
The boss said Horan raised the bow and drew back the arrow, aiming it at the front window of the truck. He said Horan continued to scan the bow and arrow at the front of the vehicle, making him and his two passengers fearful for their safety. The boss then put the vehicle in reverse, drove around the corner and called the police.
When police officers arrived, they closed down the road and surrounded Horan’s home. With several officers guarding the doors, one police officer phoned Horan and instructed him to leave the house by the rear door.
He came outside, appearing to be holding just a cell phone, and was ordered to drop the phone and keep his hands up. He complied, and was taken into custody without incident.
When police officers, accompanied by the owner of the house, went into Horan’s basement room, they found the bow and arrow lying on a bed. The weapon and related items were seized as evidence.
Horan was charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon, police said.
