Grand jury indicts two area residents E-mail

PROVIDENCE — According to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office, the Providence County Grand Jury on Friday handed up an indictment naming Gary Belanger, 52, of 30 Wood St., Pawtucket, on one count of possession of over five kilograms of marijuana and one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

The alleged incidents took place in Pawtucket, on or about Sept. 26. Rhode island State Police conducted the investigation.
Belanger will be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Jan. 7.
Also on Friday, the Providence County Grand Jury delivered an indictment naming Sean Gouveia, 38, of 116 Arnold St., Lincoln, on one count of simple assault, six counts of first degree child molestation, and two counts of second degree child molestation.
According to the attorney general’s office, it is alleged that Gouveia committed one crime of simple assault, five crimes of first degree child molestation, and one crime of second degree child molestation between the dates of Jan. 1, 2005 and Sept. 23, 2008, in Lincoln.
It is also alleged that Gouveia committee one crime of first degree child molestation between the dates of Jan. 1, 2005 and Sept. 23, 2008, in Scituate, and one crime of second degree child molestation between the dates of Jan. 1, 2003 and Dec. 31, 2004, also in Scituate.
All of the alleged crimes of child molestation involve a victim or victims 14 years of age or under. Lincoln Police conducted the investigation.
Gouveia will be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Jan. 7.
