By DONNA KENNY KIRWAN PAWTUCKET — A 36-year-old city man told police he was robbed at gunpoint by a male suspect as he was walking near the intersection of Garden Street and Harrison Street on Friday at around 8:20 p.m.
The victim said that the suspect, a black male wearing a blue coat, jeans and a ski mask, walked up behind him and asked him, “What you got?” The victim said that when he turned around, he saw the suspect was holding a black handgun. The victim said the suspect instructed him to take out his wallet, and he complied, handing over approximately $340 in cash. He told police that the man then fled, running down Harrison Street and taking a left onto West Avenue. The suspect was described as being about 5’ 8” tall with a thin build, according to police. On Monday at around 2:57 p.m., a woman reported being robbed of her pocketbook and cell phone by a black male suspect, possibly a juvenile, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, while walking in the vicinity of Waldo Street and Highland Street. However, police said that no weapon was shown in this incident and they do not believe the two crimes are linked.
