PAWTUCKET — A 42-year-old West Warwick man and his 23-year-old son were both arrested for assaulting several Pawtucket Police officers as they were being taken into custody on Wednesday night.

The father, Mark R. Boisvert, of 14 McNiff St., #4, was initially being investigated by police after he had been identified as the driver of a vehicle that had gone over a curb and was seen traveling the wrong way down Broadway with a flat tire at around 10 p.m.
When Patrol Officer Justin Snape located Boisvert trying to change a flat tire in the parking lot of the Dunkin Donuts at 32 Central Ave., he said Boisvert
admitted he had gone over a curb and that he did not have a driver’s license. Snape discovered that Boisvert’s license had been suspended, and told him he was under arrest.
A search of Boisvert’s vehicle also turned up a quantity of unknown pills and a suspicious socket wrench attachment that were turned over to the Special Squad for further investigation, acacording to the police report.
As Snape was speaking with Boisvert, his son, Keith Boisvert, emerged from a liquor store on Broadway. Boisvert, who appeared intoxicated, allegedly began yelling obscenities at Snape about the elder Boisvert  being arrested, and refused to be consent to a search or follow the officer’s commands.
Snape said that when he attempted to place Mark Boisvert in the cruiser, he began to yell obscenities and and move his body agressively. His actions caused Keith Boisvert to become more belligerent and he was also placed in custody in a separate police cruiser for obstructing the investigation.
According to police, when Mark and Keith Boisvert were in the police station garage waiting to be taken to the cell block, they both started to make threats that when their handcuffs were off, they were going to assault all four officers in the cell block area.
Then, Mark Boisvert allegedly again threatened Sgt. James Halpin and lunged at him with his shoulder, striking the officer’s right shoulder. Keith Boisvert attempted to intervene and began struggling with the  officers and trying to kick them. He was finally taken to the ground and given a burst of pepper spray, police said.
Mark Boisvert was charged with driving with a suspended license and simple assault on a police officer. Keith Boisvert, of 27 Robinson Way, West Warwick, was charged with obstructing a police officer and two counts of simple assault on a police officer.
