By DONNA KENNY KIRWAN PAWTUCKET — A 44-year-old city man was arrested on charges of domestic-simple assault stemming from an alleged brutal attack on his 19-year-old girlfriend during an argument on Saturday at around 11:04 a.m., police said.
The victim called police from the Dunkin Donuts on East Street to report that she had just been assaulted by her boyfriend in an apartment at 85 Montgomery St. She told police that the suspect, Peter Leblanc, had accused her of stealing money from him and using his phones without his permission. She stated that Leblanc told her “You’re gonna’ get a beating, just tell me how you want it,” and that she had replied, “Just don’t hit my face.” She said Leblanc then proceeded to beat her on the head, back, stomach, and legs, first with a set of keys, then a large book and then a cane. She said he then grabbed her small toe and threatened to break it until she began crying, at which point he stopped. The victim told police she then left the apartment and called police because she was afraid to go back. Police said they interviewed LeBlanc at the apartment, which was described as being in a state of disarray. He first denied there had been an argument or altercation, but later admitted there had been an argument over money. He said he had inadvertently pushed the victim off of him when she had pulled his hair. Leblanc, who listed an address of 96 Gooding St., was taken into custody. The victim, who had swelling on her right eye and a bruise on her toe, declined medical attention, police said. On Friday night, police arrested a 24-year-old city man on similar charges after he swung his fist at his 19-year-old, live-in girlfriend, striking her in the neck, during an argument at their apartment at 183 East St., at around 10:40 p.m. The suspect, Tongar M. Langar, 24, is also accused of grabbing the victim by the hair and shaking her head several times, and of shoving her. He also took the victim’s cell phone so she could not call police. The victim told police that she and the suspect have been involved in a relationship for three years and have a child together. She said Langar had assaulted her several times in the past, but she had never called the police before. A rescue was called, but the victim declined medical attention, police said. Langar was charged with domestic-simple assault and domestic-refusal to relinquish a telephone in an emergency, police said.
