PAWTUCKET — The Pawtucket Police Department has released information that 61-year-old John R. Woods, a convicted child molester, is living in the Main Street area and has registered with the police according to state law.
Woods is listed as a Level 3 sex offender, a risk level that has been determined based largely on his potential to re-offend.
By state law, law enforcement agencies are authorized to inform the public of a sex offender’s release from prison when the Sex Offender Board of Review determines that the release of information will enhance public safety and protection. No agency, including any law enforcement or state agency, may direct where the offender does or does not reside, nor where he works or goes to school.
According to Pawtucket Police, Woods is not wanted by the police at this time and has served the sentence imposed on him by the court. In addition to registering with the Pawtucket Police Department, he is under the direct supervision of the State of Rhode Island Department of Corrections, Adult Probation and Parole Unit. His probation expires in August 2018.
Woods is described as a 6-foot tall, 180-pound white mail with brown hair and brown eyes.
The Pawtucket Police emphasized that any attempts to use information contained in the notification in any way, to harass or victimize the offender can result in criminal arrest and prosecution.
For more information, the Pawtucket Police can be reached by calling (401) 727-9100.

I love the fact that the bridge is now open again and it didn't
take as long as I thought!  Good work!

R. Veveiros - Pawtucket

There are no good breakfast places now that Tigger's burned down.
The sidewalks are rolled up before 7pm and there is a lack of a friendly atmosphere.
I just returned from England and the people there bent over backwards to help us
out and were treated us like visiting dignitaries. There is nothing to do
at night except drink alcohol and heaven forbid if you drive afterward.  I don't
really know what can be done but it's an unfriendly place.
