By DONNA KENNY KIRWAN PAWTUCKET — A man bit another man in the lip during a fight that erupted over an apparent “road rage” incident on Hope Street on Saturday at around 11:30 p.m., police said.
According to Pawtucket Police, when they responded to a call about an assault, they found several individuals standing in front of 18 Hope St., yelling and screaming. The victim, who was still at the scene, told police he had been traveling north on Hope Street when the suspect, Gregorio L. Graca, also heading north, drove around his vehicle and stopped short. The victim told police that he beeped his horn at the 50-year-old Graca, who continued north on Hope Street, eventually coming to a stop in front of his home at 18 Hope St. The victim said that because he was familiar with Graca, he pulled alongside and asked him why he had cut him off. He said that Graca made an obscene gesture and began walking toward his vehicle. As the victim got out of his own vehicle, he said that Graca punched him several times, knocking him to the ground. The victim said he fought back, punching Graca to defend himself. At one point during the altercation, the victim told police that Graca had bit his lip, causing a large laceration that was bleeding heavily. Due to the severity of the injury, the victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. Graca told police that the victim had repeatedly beeped his horn at him, and had attacked him after he had parked his vehicle. He had a small laceration to his lip, but refused medical attention. Due to witness statements, and the severity of the victim’s injuries, police arrested Graca and charged him with mayhem--mutiliation or disabling, police said.
