Saturday, 31 May 2008

DURHAM, N.C. --- Rehabbing Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz struggled in his second start with the Pawtucket Red Sox, who dropped a 10-6 decision to the Durham Bulls on Friday night in the first game of their eight-game road trip at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Buchholz worked the first four innings, striking out five batters and throwing two-hit ball, but also allowing four walks and three runs.

Sean Danielson collected three hits to lead the PawSox, Chris Carter and Jonathan Van Every each added two, and Carter and Brandon Moss added solo home runs.
Dan Johnson and Elliot Johnson each hit a two-out, two-run homer to lead the hosts, who broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the sixth inning and took control of the game with three more in the seventh.
The series continues tonight at 7:05 p.m., with PawSox righthander David Pauley (6-2, 3.09) opposing Bulls righty Jeff Niemann (2-1, 1.71).
