Lincoln High names top grads |

Alexandra Sexton By RUSS OLIVO LINCOLN — Lincoln High School Interim Principal Elizabeth A. Marquis has named seniors Alexandra Elizabeth Sexton as valedictorian and Nikolay Korotkov salutatorian for the Class of 2008.
The daughter of William and Rhonda Sexton of Kennedy Boulevard, Sexton is a member of the National and Rhode Island honor societies and was the recipient of the 2007 Harvard Book Award and the Natalie Sutcliffe Award. Also, Sexton has been a winner in the Power of the Pen Contest for the last three years in a row, capturing a first place award this year and second place awards in previous years. She has been a four-year member of the LHS Chorus and Select Chorus, for which she was nominated as vice president this year. Sexton has also been an active participant in the Drama Club for three years and has earned a varsity letter on the Lincoln High School tennis team. She has earned first honors every quarter of the school year and will enter the Providence College Honors Program on a full scholarship this fall. She intends to pursue a career as a pediatrician or a physician’s assistant. Salutatorian Korotkov, the son of Andrei Korotkov and Natalia Beloslovdtsey of 200 Old River Road, is the president of the LHS Chapter of the National Honor Society and a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society. Korotkov is the recipient of the 2007 Dartmouth College Book Award and he won the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal for Mathematics and Science. He has won numerous awards in mathematics competitions and in Science Olympiad competition. While at LHS, Korotkov has participated in a variety of extracurricular activities — most notably the swim, math and science teams. For the past two years, Korotkov has been a top scorer in Lincoln’s American Mathematics Competition. He was a gold medalist in Grade 12 and a bronze medalist the previous year for the USA Mathematics Talent Search. In the fall, Korotkov is heading for Dartmouth College. In addition to Sexton and Korotkov, Marquis released the names of eight other students to round out the school’s top 10 seniors for 2001. They are Sarah Kinslow, Nicholas Chisholm, Robert Lin, Cassandra Duarte, Caroline Belshe, Jennifer Pytel, Colby Brunette and Louis J. Kishfy.
