PAWTUCKET — Police are still searching for a suspect in the apparent carjacking of a woman that took place Monday morning on Wood Street.

Pawtucket police said they responded to 56 Wood St. at around 8:15 a.m. for a report of a carjacking. The female victim, who had called police, said that when she was inside her vehicle, she was approached from behind by an unknown suspect.
She said the suspect pointed a small silver handgun at her and demanded that she get out of her car. When she complied, the suspect entered her vehicle and drove away, she said. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said that at around 9:30 a.m., Providence police located the vehicle. A suspect was seen running from the vehicle, but no one was apprehended.
The suspect is described as a black male, medium build, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, who was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
The weapon was not recovered, police said.
The vehicle was towed to the Pawtucket police station to be processed for evidence. The incident is still being investigated.
