CENTRAL FALLS — Police reported arresting five locals they say were trying to start fights with customers in an Earle Street bar Sunday night.
Five Central Falls residents were arrested as a result of the incident, which apparently took place at the International Sports Bar. According to police, 19-year-old Jose Baptista and 31-year-old Jose Ortega, both of 104 Earle Street, along with 19-year-old Suarez Abdiel of 104 Earl Street, 3rd and Erasmo Rojas of 100 Earle Street were arrested and charged with one count each of disorderly conduct. Police also reported arresting 22-year-old Juan Falcon of 47 Sumner Avenue, 3rd on a charge of driving without a license or with an expired license. According to an arrest report by Officer Todd McGibney, police responded to 22 Earle Street on three occasions that evening, with the first report coming in at 9:12 p.m., indicating that the suspects may be armed. McGibney noted that officers responded to the same type of disturbance on two more occasions by 10:00 p.m. In all three instances, police say the aforementioned individuals “were trying to fight with the customers” at the bar. Officers initially responded by warning the suspects to leave and not come back to the International Sports Bar. On one occasion, the report said, officers spoke to customers, who said the suspects had come back and attempted to start a fight with customers once again, but fled when they heard police cruisers coming. Finally, at approximately 10:45 p.m., McGibney indicated that the officers finally managed to catch the suspects as they were attempting to leave the scene. According to his report, the owner of the bar indicated that the suspects had again attempted to provoke a fight with customers. They were each issued a municipal court summons on the disorderly conduct charges and given a court date of April 8, according to police.
