By DONNA KENNY KIRWAN PAWTUCKET — Five city youths, ranging in age from 14 to 17, were arrested on Thursday afternoon in connection with two armed robberies that took place in Pawtucket on Feb. 6 and 7. Another youth, age 16, is also being sought as a suspect but has not yet been apprehended, police said.
On Feb. 6 at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Lil General Store at 600 Main St. was robbed at gunpoint by one individual, police said. The next night, Feb. 7, at around 8 p.m., the Star Wine liquor store at 318 West Ave. was robbed at gunpoint by two individuals. According to Pawtucket Police Major John J. Whiting, after an intensive investigation, Det. Linda Bachand-Doucett of the department’s Youth Bureau learned that several youths were involved in the two robberies. Allegedly, various youths acted as con-conspirators or lookouts and shared in the proceeds of the robberies, which amounted to $17. Whiting said that detectives and uniformed patrol officers went to seven different locations in the city looking for the five suspects. All were apprehended without incident, he said. A search warrant was executed at the home of one of the youths in an attempt to locate the firearm that was used in the crimes, but no weapon was found, he said. Because all of the individuals involved are juveniles, Whiting declined to give out any information regarding their identities. All of the youths are being referred to Family Court to face the charges. Whiting said that a 15-year-old youth was charged with two counts of first degree robbery and two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery; and a 14-year-old youth was charged with one count of first degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. Additionally, a 17-year-old youth was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery. Also, a 16-year-old was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and a 15-year-old was charged with one count of conspiracy. Police plan to charge a sixth youth, age 16, with one count of first degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. He has not yet been taken into custody.
