By Vinaya Saksena CUMBERLAND — The status of a driver injured in an apparent rollover accident on Route 295 Sunday is unknown, though he appears to have survived the crash.
Police say a sport utility vehicle carrying a driver and one passenger lost control and crashed into a grassy median on Route 295 North sometime around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. No fatalities were reported, but little was known of the occupants’ status. Police had not released the names of the individuals who had been in the vehicle at the time of the accident as of press time. However, Sgt. George Stansfield indicated that the driver was from Attleboro, the passenger apparently residing in Woonsocket. Stansfield said the driver had been ejected from the vehicle as a result of the accident’s impact. He was believed to have suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries, though police were awaiting a hospital update on his status before releasing his name. The passenger did not require hospitalization, according to Stansfield. The SUV in question had been traveling north on Route 295, and was apparently somewhere between exits 10 and 11 at the time of the accident.
