CUMBERLAND — Police are seeking a man who robbed a local bank Friday afternoon, making off with an unknown amount of money.

According to Detective Michael Strain, the young man suspected in the hold-up entered the local Bank of America branch at 1975 Mendon Road Friday at approximately 2:23 p.m.
The suspect allegedly handed a note to a bank employee demanding money. Police say the suspect did not show a weapon, and is believed to have fled on foot. No one was hurt in the robbery.
The suspect is described as a white male with a goatee between the ages of 18 and 25. He was reportedly wearing a black hat and a hooded sweatshirt emblazoned with the words “South Pole.”
A man who was in the area later that afternoon said police vehicles had blocked off the bank parking lot. No arrests had been made in connection with robbery as of Friday evening. The incident remains under investigation.
Police are asking that anyone with information on the incident or the suspect call Cumberland’s detective division. The department can be reached at (401) 333-2500.
