CUMBERLAND — A Pawtucket man has been arrested for allegedly running over another man he may have been in a dispute with, though details of the incident are unclear to police.

Jean Vega, 47, of 15 Annie St., Pawtucket, was arrested for failure to stop, accident resulting with personal injury, some time after 1 a.m. Saturday.
His arrest followed an accident in which his green 1996 Ford vehicle allegedly struck a man identified by police as Richard Pedro, 43.
Police are unclear as to what led to the accident, though they have been told it stemmed from an altercation on Broad Street involving the two men and possibly one or more women.
Officers reportedly spoke to Vega, but have not been able to get much information from Pedro, who had been hospitalized for unspecified injuries suffered in the incident.
According to police, Vega said he was driving on Mill Street, preparing to turn onto Broad Street, when he saw a blonde-haired girl and a man fighting in the street.
He followed them to the Broad Street address where the altercation took place, police report.
Vega allegedly noticed two other females who appeared to be in trouble and stopped to help them.
At this point, Vega reportedlly told police, Pedro arrived in a second vehicle, which pulled up near his. According to police, an altercation ensued, and Vega tried to leave the scene for fear that the situation would escalate.
What happened next is unclear, and remains a focus of the police investigation. However, it appears that Pedro was somehow struck by Vega’s vehicle as Vega was trying to get away.
Vega is due in District Court Jan. 23 on the duty to stop charge. Cumberland Police Sgt. Paul Brown said Pedro did not face any charges stemming from the alleged altercation.

I love the fact that the bridge is now open again and it didn't
take as long as I thought!  Good work!

There are no good breakfast places now that Tigger's burned down.
The sidewalks are rolled up before 7pm and there is a lack of a friendly atmosphere.
I just returned from England and the people there bent over backwards to help us
out and were treated us like visiting dignitaries. There is nothing to do
at night except drink alcohol and heaven forbid if you drive afterward.  I don't
really know what can be done but it's an unfriendly place.
