PROVIDENCE — A Cumberland man accused of sexually assaulting a local woman multiple times pleaded not guilty to related charges in Superior Court at his arraignment Wednesday.

Gary LaMountain, 38, of 5 Crestwood Court, was arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on four counts of first-degree sexual assault and a charge of breaking and entering a dwelling or apartment without consent. LaMountain, who had been indicted on those charges on Dec. 18, entered a not guilty plea on all of the aforementioned charges Wednesday.
According to court records, LaMountain was also issued a no contact order for the victim Wednesday. He was ordered held without bail and remanded to the ACI.
When he was arrested on the current charges last year, LaMountain had recently been released from the ACI, where he had been serving time for a previous sexual assault. In 2003, he had pleaded no contest to sexual assault and other charges and was sentenced to 20 years in prison with five to serve.
However, LaMountain was released from the ACI in April 2007, according to Mike Healey, a spokesman for Attorney General Patrick Lynch. It was unclear why LaMountain had been released after serving only a portion of his five-year sentence. Healey said it was possible that LaMountain had been released early on good time credit  or for good behavior.
This is the second time LaMountain has been ordered held without bail since his arrest. He had been held without bail prior to his arraignment as a probation violator. He is due back in court on April 9 for a pre-trial conference.
