Scituate stops C.F. gridders E-mail

CENTRAL FALLS - With a primary goal of a Division IV postseason berth, this one certainly didn't help.
Central Falls High scored the first touchdown of the night on Friday, but after that it was all Scituate as the visiting Spartans left the Higginson Ave., Complex with a 38-22 decision.
"We just didn't step up today," said C.F. coach Mo Jackson. "You think that you know your team We figured we'd come out firing tonight. We were up 6-0 and that was it. My hat goes off to (Scituate). They came in and they had a good game plan. We missed a lot of tackles, we let them push us around."
Justin Staniorski scored two touchdowns and also had an interception for Scituate, which upped its record to 3-1 in league. The Warriors dropped to 2-3 and are presently sixth place in the division.
Central Falls has three more league games left on its regular season slate.
"We got to win (the rest) and get some help," said Jackson, about the playoffs."Right now there are (five) teams ahead of us and they only take four teams in the playoffs."
C.F. took the early lead in Friday's contest on a 50-yard run by fullback Emmanuel Versaille in the first quarter. That would be all the scoring for the Warriors in the half as the Spartans responded with 19 unanswered points to take a comfortable cushion into the break. The Spartans built that advantage to 32-14 by the end of the third quarter witth the Warriors' lone TD in the quarter coming on  a a four-yard aerial from quarterback Steve Vazquez to Antonio Mena in the right corner of the end zone.
With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Versailles scored his second paydirt, eluding several defenders with a 35-yard scamper.
The setback by the Warriors comes after back-to-back wins over Providence Country Day and a talented Hope squad last Saturday.
"It's the same personnel that was in there last week," said Jackson, making reference to the Warriors' 16-14 victory over the Blue Wave. "I am very disappointed. We knew were weren't going to roll right over them. We know that they've been improving. We knew it would be a tough ball game. We figured it would be close. But this wasn't even close. We probably should have stayed in the locker room."
"(Central Falls) is a tough team," added Scituate coach Mark Reed. "They put points on the board very quickly. They do that every year. This year we came in here and they put points on the board, but we kept playing instead of getting down on ourselves. We knew we could win and the kids really stepped up and played tough, and played with heart."
